As Chronic Absenteeism Persists, Schoolio Launches Subject Mastery to Help K–8 Students Keep Up and Catch Up

TORONTO, ON, CANADA, October 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- As Chronic Absenteeism Persists, Schoolio Launches Subject Mastery to Help K–8 Students Keep Up and Catch Up
Subject-by-subject plans at $4.99 per month unlock every grade level for families, tutors and school districts; Schoolio also introduces Schoolio Campus, a K–12 life-skills platform for schools

Schoolio, the K–8 curriculum company, today launched Subject Mastery, which lets parents, tutoring companies and school districts buy individual subjects with access to every grade level from kindergarten through Grade 8. Students can keep up with lessons while absent, fill gaps from earlier grades, practice more or get ahead, at the level and pace that fits them. Schoolio also introduced Schoolio Campus, a life-skills platform that schools can add to their existing academic programs.

Absenteeism remains one of the biggest challenges facing schools in both the United States and Canada. Nearly a quarter of U.S. children did not attend school regularly in 2025. In Ontario, Canada's largest province, just 55.5 per cent of Grade 1 to 8 students met the province's attendance standard in 2024-25, according to Ministry of Education data obtained by CBC News.

Subject Mastery gives students real online lessons, not just practice sheets, along with mastery-based quizzes and AI tutor support, so they can work independently. Because every grade level is unlocked, educators and parents can move a student up or down discreetly as they find gaps. Subject Mastery is available now in Math, Science, Social Studies and Electives.

The plans are built for three groups:
-Parents of children in public school who want their child to catch up, practice more or get ahead.
-Tutoring companies supporting students after school and between sessions.
-School districts and boards looking for intervention, just-in-time support, or a way for absent students to keep learning.

"When a child misses school, what usually goes home is a worksheet," said Lindsey Casselman, co-founder and Head of Learning at Schoolio. "Subject Mastery sends the lesson home too, so a student who's been away can actually learn what they missed and not fall farther behind."

Schoolio Campus, available now, brings life skills to students from kindergarten through Grade 12. Courses include Social Skills and Emotional Intelligence, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Real-Life Skills and Emerging Technologies. Most schools introduce these topics only in high school, as electives. Campus is designed as an add-on to whatever academic program a school already runs, and is aimed at microschools, charter schools and international schools. It can also be white-labelled, so schools and organizations can offer Campus under their own brand and add their own courses.

"Parents and educators agree kids need skills like financial literacy and emotional intelligence, but school rarely includes them until high school, and even then only as electives," said Sathish Bala, co-founder and CEO of Schoolio. "Campus lets schools add them without giving up anything they already do."
Subject Mastery costs an introductory price of just $4.99 per subject per month. In 17 states in the US, families can use funds from education funding and ESA programs, where Schoolio is an approved provider, to pay for Subject Mastery.
