FRANKFURT, Germany, October 7, 2026 — The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea), an agency under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is presenting Korean authors and literature in translation at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026, which runs October 7–11. Through its Korean Literature Overseas Expansion Package program, LTI Korea is supporting author appearances and literary events organized by participating Korean publishers and literary agencies, alongside an exhibition of Korean works translated into a wide range of languages.
Fourteen Korean authors are attending the fair: Bae Myungeun, Baek Seungyeon, Cheon Seonran, Choi Jin-young, Bora Chung, Esther Park, Kim Cho Yeop, Lee Heejoo, Lee, Yuri, Hyejung Moon, Park So-hae, Haena Sung, Yeh Soyeon and Yeong-Gwang You. They will meet publishers and readers at author conversations, readings and Q&A sessions, including “How Korean SF Meets Readers Around the World” and “After Translation: Korean Literature Read in Different Languages.”
The publishers and agencies selected for the package program developed and organized the events with support from LTI Korea. Under this new partnership model, private-sector participants lead program development, while LTI Korea provides public-sector support to connect Korean authors and their work with international publishers and readers.
At its booth in the Korea Pavilion (Hall 5.1, B143), LTI Korea is hosting an exhibition and a program of literary events. The exhibition features titles that have won or been shortlisted for major international literary prizes, including Kim Hyesoon’s Autobiography of Death and Han Kang’s We Do Not Part, reflecting recent developments and recognition for Korean literature abroad. The booth also presents a wide selection of Korean literature in translation and Korean Literature Now (KLN), LTI Korea’s English-language quarterly. Additional events will take place on the fair’s official Asia Stage and Global Stage.
LTI Korea is jointly organizing this year’s Korea Pavilion with the Korean Publication Industry Promotion Agency and the Korea Creative Content Agency. With the shared slogan and key visual “Crossroads of Stories,” the three organizations present Korean literature and content spanning fiction, the humanities, picture books, web novels and webtoons. On the afternoon of October 8, the fair’s second day, the pavilion partners and the Korean Cultural Center in Germany will co-host a networking reception for literary professionals and publishers from Korea and abroad.
“Frankfurter Buchmesse provides an important opportunity to introduce Korean authors and their work to publishers and readers around the world and to explore new collaborations,” said Jeon Soo-yong, President of LTI Korea. “We will continue to combine the private sector’s expertise in developing and delivering programs with LTI Korea’s support and global network to help more readers worldwide discover and enjoy Korean literature.”
